If you are active or working in the martime industry, you are required to undergo periodic seafarer medical examinations. For this examination, OmniHealth in Amsterdam is the place to be! At OmniHealth, we examine whether you meet the medical requirements of ILO/IMO. The seafarer medical examination focuses on your medical fitness. This is important not only for you and your health, but also for the safety of your colleagues, other boaters and anyone else on the water.

At OmniHealth, you can schedule and have your seafarer medical examination in Amsterdam quickly and without waiting times. Our certified medical examiners perform the seafarer examination according to the inspection guidelines of the Transport Environment Inspectorate (ILT) and you will receive your ‘seafarer medical certificate’ immediately after the examination. The seafarer certificate is valid for 2 years. For anyone under 18, the certificate is valid for one year.

If you work as a crew member in the maritime industry transporting goods or people, you will need a seafarer medical examination. This is done by a doctor appointed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works. Needless to say, the doctors working at OmniHealth are all qualified to perform your examination and sign the medical certificate. A medical examination for students is not required but is recommended. Without approval, a student cannot go on an internship or work on a ship. What does the seafarer examination consist of at OmniHealth?

During a seafarer medical examination, the medical fitness of the examinee to perform his or her job is assessed according to the ILO/IMO requirements. The examination is carried out by one of our certified shipping doctors who holds a designation (license) from the Environmental and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) for the examination of crew members. Our seafarer medical examinations are meticulously and carefully designed to ensure that all crew members meet the stringent requirements necessary for their roles on board. We understand how crucial it is for seafarers to be in optimal health, not only for their own safety, but also for the safety of their fellow crew members and the ship.
Duration: 30-45 minutes. The seafarer medical consists of:
